Client: Anglian Water Services Ltd

Constructed on the site of the original fishing lodge built on the shores of Grafham Water Reservoir in the 1960’s, The Client’s brief required the provision of a building to provide a shore based focus for the activities of individual fishermen as well as match events for which the venue is becoming internationally renowned.

01. View from the jetty

The accommodation provides a bar and restaurant, a retail outlet for fishing equipment and clothing and offices for the management of the leisure facilities based on the site, together with a classroom facility and offices for the nature reserve wardens.

The accommodation is designed to maximise the visual and physical relationship of the visitor to the external environment with broad panoramic views of the water from the first floor bar and restaurant which in turn can be opened up to a west facing terrace overlooking the fishing harbour and adjacent landscape.

03. First floor level access from car park

The building makes use of the existing contours of the site with principal access at first floor level from the adjacent car park translated to harbour access at lower ground level from the lakeside elevation.
